Empowering Parents
Everyone always says, “I don’t know how you do it?” You have a husband, 4 kids in the house, 1 kid that lives with his mom, 3 dogs, 2 cats and a fulltime job. Some days I don’t know how I do it either. But the reason why I do it is more important than the how.
I do it because how kids feel about themselves as a reader. I do it because how parents feel about themselves is important too.
I do it because we all have those moments where we feel lost in a sea of decisions.
I have a sounding board. I am blessed with the best support system of friends, most of whom are parents too. I have never had a problem talking about my problems. Laughing about my mistakes, and getting feedback from the people that I love and respect. I realize it isn’t the same for every parent.
I created Beacon Valley Literacy Services to help parents have a sounding board. So I can answer questions you may not even know enough to ask. So I can help you let go of the past and build an educational future for your kid.
I also created it because I have experience and training that I want to share with parents. You won’t catch me writing research papers. You won’t catch me writing research based reading programs. I have done things like that before. I do love it but I love the parents and kids I help more. However, I do live in the academia realm. Reading, training, learning and translating it to practical solutions for real people.
I think of myself more as a life coach for kids with dyslexia, reading difficulties and their parents. Good conversations with great advice and thinking about the big picture is what I love.
As always, reach out to me if you need support. Join us for Topic Tuesday a Meeting of the Minds and catch a new blog post every Sunday!
