Happy Mother’s Day

My biggest wish for all the parents I work with is to enjoy this day. I have been thinking about these parents and all the planning and worrying we do. It is long road to appropriate education with many twists and turns and it is unnerving to say the least. We spend countless hours going over reports, report cards, grades and try to navigate school for our kids. We have all left meetings in tears, lost library books, forgot about crazy sock day, and dropped off instruments at school.

The biggest message I have is that all the choices we make for our kids don’t guarantee an outcome. We, no matter how hard we try can not control our kid’s educational future. As parents we are really just along for the ride. We can make a difference and do everyday. We can make an impact by tirelessly advocating for them, by letting them experience some failure and then watching them succeed.

Please know that is is their own future and all we can do is influence it. So I know it is super trendy but think of your role as an influencer. You may not know the latest trends and latest dance moves but you do have the ability to influence their future. So this Mother’s Day get your trendy sunglasses, your trendy secret Starbucks menu item, and enjoy the ride.

You are capable, our kids are capable, and helping your kid build their future is a gift.

Happy Mother’s Day!

With love and respect,

Melissa
