Combat the Clicker Effect

Combat the Clicker Effect

Previously I explained the 3 different types of clickers, kids who respond to distance learning and technology in different ways. Now here are some tips to navigate technology and your struggling reader.

For Click Click Clickers
-Know the computer program yourself by sitting side by side with your kid. Don’t think because they watch YouTube, play FortNight or Minecraft that they will read good enough to learn in an online format.

For Silent Clickers-
-Make reading out loud cool by using whisper reading, having them try all different voices, and explain how people can learn by reading out loud. Teach them the words to your favorite song. Show them how you listen to it over and over again till the words roll off your tongue.

For Could Careless Clickers
-Use the dashboard or whatever incentive the internet program has designed. So if your kid gets points to dress and avatar or buy some imaginary animals use this as motivation. Focus on progress, not perfection so making improvements is what you want your kid to do. No one is going to get it right the first time but thinking before and between the answers is the important part.
