Struggling Readers and Distance Learning

3 Types of Clickers

Is distance learning impossible? Can’t navigate your child’s internet programming from the school…join the club.

Avoid the clicker effect it causes the low effort syndrome which can be terrible for struggling readers.

Step 1: Identify the type of clicker your kid is.

3 Types of Clickers

  1. Click, click, clicker-Does your kid click without reading? Chances are they are scanning the text for keywords or visual hints that will give them the answer. Kids can use the picture, visual information and other clues to get the right answer without reading. If your child does not read to the end of a word or sentence but gets the beginning correct they are this type of clicker.
  2. Silent Clicker-reading and learning are grounded in speaking, listening, and conversation so when a kid is on a computer program they should be reading out loud and repeating the robot voice.
  3. Could Care Less Clicker-If your kid just clicks each answer till they get the right one then they could care less. Some kids don’t realize that they need to stop and reread rather than click each option until it is correct.
